We are searching for a responsible project engineer to oversee all engineering and technical aspects of projects. The individual will oversee scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing all technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality from inception to completion.
Key Areas of Accountability:
- Support the development, planning, and execution of capital projects across all areas of the facility. This role is responsible for day-to-day capital project execution and management.
- Establish, define, and implement key operational and executional metrics and KPI’s to track project execution including cost, forecasting, scheduling, productivity, and supplier performance.
- Support the Engineering Manager to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution to regulatory, permitting, and technical issues associated with the execution and delivery of projects.
- Interface with consulting engineering firms to improve overall project portfolio execution.
- Liaising with operations to understand plant / process improvements that will be incorporated into site development and operation readiness efforts.
- Managing capital projects in collaboration with project stakeholders and the project sponsor.
- Delivering quality projects within set timelines and budgets.
- Communicating project progress to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Executing projects professionally using established project management tools and methodologies.
- Estimating project costs for capital budgets and preparing funding estimates for projects.
- Developing project scopes and detailed designs utilizing company and offsite resources.
- Leading project design reviews.
- Ensuring PSM compliance for projects.
- Supporting construction by issuing construction scopes, bidding installation resources, and selecting contractors.
- Overseeing check out, commissioning, and startup of new installations.
- Adhering to engineering standards, Process Safety Management, company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Manage and support projects across the organization.
- Troubleshooting plant operations and optimizing existing facilities.
- Leading process improvements company-wide.
- Contributing to the enhancement of project processes and specifications.
- Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring engineering projects.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
- Interacting with clients daily to understand their needs and representing them in the field.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Ability to develop projects with plant operations groups or corporate customers.
- 5 years of proven experience leading multiple concurrent small capital projects ($100K to $5MM) in a manufacturing or processing industry.
- 3 years of proven experience working at or supporting an operating facility and willingness to work at our manufacturing/distribution facilities.
- Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management.
- Ability to develop and track project plans and schedules (MS project experience preferred).
- Ability to accurately estimate and track project costs.
- Experience in preparing requests for bids and administering design and construction contracts.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to lead remote project teams and travel to company locations as needed for project activities.
- Willingness to adjust work hours and days to complete critical project tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service-oriented mind-set
- Ability to support multiple scopes to deliver safely, on-time and within budget.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software for P&ID development and project scope documentation.
- Proficient with 2D/3D CAD design and modeling (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience as a project engineer with excellent design and visualization software skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong project management, supervision, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- BS degree in Engineering or relevant field.
