POSITION SUMMARY:

CMM programmer Co-Ops are computer-savvy precision measurement experts who use their technical skills to create inspection programs for coordinate-measuring machines.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be proficient in interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing frames from blueprints and in using mathematical data.
  • Translate data into inspection program outputs to ensure manufactured products meet internal engineering and customer dimensional specifications.
  • Programming languages for CMMs vary, but they share several common denominators, including data collection, analysis and reporting functions.
  • Collects data in printed and electronic format for use by other departments and customers.
  • Reports dimensional, statistical, capabilityand measurement system data in a variety of formats.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED equivalent and be enrolled in an accredited College/University.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to understand aerospace and non-aerospace customer drawings, models, and specifications demonstrating the ability to, from such input, create accurate and efficient CMM programs.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and its application in customer drawings/models is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in PC DMIS MR2, QDAS, Microsoft XP and other Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to work well with others in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves sitting in a chair using a computer to write CMM Programs as well as proof the programs on a component.
