Job Description

- Familiarization and understanding of the applicable regulations, inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to determine the airworthiness of a component on which maintenance, preventive maintenance or alterations is performed.
- Ensure that the processing and inspection of components are within the applicable regulatory authority.
- Comply with all applicable regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
- Be proficient and qualified in proper inspection procedures such as but not limited to incoming, in process (hidden damage) and final.
- Understand and implement the policies and procedures set forth in the various CCS Quality Manuals and Procedures.
- Understand and implement the applicable civil aviation regulations as defined by the FAA, EASA, CAAC, CAAT, JCAB or other recognized civil authority.
- Ensure that inspections performed are done so in accordance with approved data such as the Original Engine Manufacture Manuals, the customer’s manual or other data approved by the administrator.
- Ensure that the equipment used to perform the inspection is in good working condition and that the calibration is current, as applicable.
- Know how to read and use calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, dial calipers, dial indicators, protractor, radius gages, hardness tester, dial bore gage, thickness gage, omni gages, go/no go gages, and micrometers.
- Upon receiving items in this repair station for maintenance, verify that the part number and serial number of the items match the customer’s paperwork.
- Ensure that all inspections performed are properly documented in either blue or black ink.
- Report to Quality Management any condition noted on an item that requires maintenance to be performed outside the ratings of this repair station.
- Report to Quality Management any quality system deficiencies that may result in the release of unairworthy articles or the use of unapproved material.
- Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
- Continually look for ways to increase efficiency and productivity, while maintaining the required level of quality.
- Display an attitude that promotes teamwork and co-operation between the inspection and productions departments.
- Cross-train to become proficient inspecting all parts that undergo maintenance at this facility.
- Ensure the proper utilization of the Chrome System.
- Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of required inspection when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.
- Assist engineering in the introduction of new repairs and/or techniques to facilitate repairs and/or repairs to components.
- In conjunction with engineering and production, continually review the process routings to optimize the workflow through the maintenance process.
- Define and propose working with quality management and engineering additional equipment/tooling or modifications required to equipment /tooling which will assist in improving efficiency and productivity of the maintenance process.
- Determine repair requirements based on Traveler and drawing operations.
- Ensure all inspections are properly performed and recorded, and all records are properly executed before final approval for return to service of components maintained or altered by CCS.
- Ensure that proper documentation and certifications are included with components received.
- Ensure that all inspection tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used to perform inspections are in proper working order and the proper calibration information is affixed.
- Ensure the proper handling and preservation of components throughout the inspection process and after maintenance completion.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe working conditions.
- Perform other duties as company workload dictates.
- Be able to work any shift as needed due to company needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in basic dimensional/visual inspection required on aviation related equipment (airframe, powerplant, and or avionic)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Read, speak, write, and effectively communicate in English.
- Read and interpret various types of precision measurement equipment.
- Read and interpret documents such as OEM maintenance manuals, customer specifications and regulatory authorities.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Operate industrial truck or electric hoist.
- Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers, subordinates, supervisors and management personnel, customers and 2nd and 3rd party auditors.
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Maintain effectiveness in stressful situations
- At least 1-year relevant aviation work experience
- Certify visual acuity to NAS-410
- Airframe and Powerplant FAA certifications preferred
