Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Title I Program is recruiting for an experienced Education Program Specialist. Under structured supervision, the Title I Education Program Specialist will support the Title I, Part A Program in Georgia. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Description of Duties

  • Work closely and collaboratively with supervisor and larger federal programs’ teams in implementing key components of a structured grant cycle
  • Collaborate in person and virtually with internal staff and external stakeholders in planning, developing, and delivering professional learning through workshops, conferences, meetings, and other initiatives designed to promote implementation of the Title I, Part A program
  • Provide technical assistance primarily virtual by phone, email and virtual meetings to external stakeholders, primarily school districts
  • Conduct research into federal and state law, rules and regulations, and guidance and participating in policy and procedure development and interpretation
  • Create, enhance, and maintain Department databases, records, and virtual applications
  • Monitor program activities formally and informally through onsite monitoring, virtual monitoring and report review to ensure district compliance with Georgia Department of Education and United States Department of Education laws, regulations and guidance
  • Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of guidance, resources, materials, reports and program webpages and other information sources designed to effectively implement programming

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualification possess one or more of the following:

  • Education Specialist degree or higher
  • GaPSC professional educator certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, L-6, or L-7
  • Six (6) or more years of related experience in a professional leadership role in a public school, school system, or Regional Education Service (RESA) or other educational organization
  • Knowledge of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015
  • Five (5) years of experience with the coordination/administration of Title I, Part A program at a local/state level
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with multiple United States Department of Education grants, state and federal laws, rules and regulations and guidance
  • Experience working collaboratively with personnel in educational agencies, local school systems and schools, RESAs, professional organizations and advocacy groups to achieve common goals
  • Proven ability to instruct and coach adult learners to promote learning of policies, procedures, and technology applications by explaining rationales, modifying instructional style and strategies depending on situation/audience, and providing comprehensive feedback to supplement instruction
  • A personal philosophy that includes commitment to continuous personal and professional improvement

***This is a remote/telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Some travel may be required.

High School diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
