Job Salary: $34,320

JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, maintains highways, municipal and rural roads, runways, and rights of way. Duties include patching pavement, repairing guardrails, and highway markers.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under direct supervision, performs work in the maintenance of state highways and rights-of-way or in the installation of traffic control devices. Uses hand and power tools to complete assigned tasks. Operates vehicles and heavy equipment to perform activities. Performs traffic control duties and preventive maintenance on equipment. Responds to requests for emergency needs outside of normal working hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

· Valid driver’s license is required.

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS:

· Successful completion of MSD Level 1-2.

· One year of experience performing roadway maintenance

· A general knowledge of maintenance activities in the area of assignment

· Proven ability to lift moderately heavy objects

· Proven ability to stand for long hours, staying alert to traffic and working closely in high-speed traffic

· Proven ability to walk on different types of terrain and slopes and work in adverse weather conditions

· Proven ability to perform repetitive tasks effectively over a long period of time

· Proven ability to perform accurate eye-hand coordination

· Proven ability to work emergencies outside of normal working hours

· Proven ability to receive and interpret verbal and written instructions

· Displays a high standard of work ethics and commitment toward work

· Committed to providing quality customer service

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS:

· Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
