The Work Coordinator will work with participants in Operation New Hope, a new program at GA Regional Hospital, Savannah in order to assist them in meeting educational and vocational goals. Operation New Hope is a program that benefits individuals by helping them transition into the community through assistance with job skills, and housing. The person selected for this position will assess each individual using program assessments. Based on these assessments and the individual's goals, the Work Coordinator will design and implement rehabilitation programs that may include personal and vocational counseling, training and job placement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

· May train other unit staff in proper procedures of day-to-day operations

· Assesses the work training performance of each client and community trainee to identify each client’s vocational training needs

· Conducts program evaluations and recommends/implements updates to the processes

· Counsels clients on program participation and progress toward training objectives

· Develops and implements individual work training programs based on a comprehensive vocational assessment and staff recommendations

· Develops and maintains potential and actual vocational and readiness opportunities with local and facility contacts

· Evaluates/monitors the programs for compliance to requirements of laws, rules and departmental regulations

· Works with Program Manager to locate and coordinates work training and employment opportunities available for clients in the institution and the community and make appropriate referrals to outside community supports.

· Participates in public relations and community activities related to advocacy and employment

· Provides consultation regarding assessments, work preparation work force development and supported employment

Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, social work, education or a related area from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of job-related experience in vocational rehabilitation, human services or a related field

In addition to Entry Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications may be added by the agency.

  1. Must pass a pre-employment background check (which included criminal records check, driver's history, and verification or work history) and a post-hire federal background investigation.
  2. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program.
  3. Eligible to work in the U.S.
  4. Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, One year of which in a supervisory role OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, Two years of which in a supervisory role OR One year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 3 (HCP092) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require licensure.
