This job is a Federal Work Study, non-benefited position in the Student Affairs Division that reports to the Director of International Student Services. Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program by the Department of Education. This program provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students with significant financial need and is administered by the FWS Coordinator, and the Office of Financial Aid, in accordance with the law, federal regulations, and with instructions from the United States Department of Education.

Salary: $13.50 per hour

Hours: Days and Hours are flexible up to 20 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be eligible for funds through the Federal Work Study Program for the current semester at Gwinnett Technical College and be in good academic standing.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following competencies are preferred:

Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Forms, and student related software (Blackboard, Student Banner, QLess, Outlook).

Exhibit a learning attitude, professional behavior, and an understanding of customer service.

Job Description Summary:

Under close supervision, provides clerical support and office assistance to the Office of International Student Services and related personnel.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

Percentage of Time

Assists in organizing and executing routine activities and special projects; other duties as assigned.

· Greets internal and external customers and assists with determining needs.

· Manage materials needed by making copies, filing documents, reviewing inventory, etc.

· Assist prospective and current students with scheduling appointments.

· Uses proper judgment in selecting which issues to handle and which issues to refer to appropriate personnel.

· Assist prospective students by answering general questions about the admission process.

· Review documents being submitted for accuracy and completeness.

· Assist office staff as needed.
