Public Safety Training Instructor I (Bob Richards RYDC)

JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision, develops and instructs multiple courses of staff development and training established for enforcement prevention. Provides specialized training in assigned fields.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Maintains accurate training records; provides certificates.

Makes recommendations for improvement of courses.

Inspects facilities equipment regularly to identify and correct unsafe conditions.

Rates trainees during field exercises, enforces safety protocol.

Monitors, evaluates and records training activities and program effectiveness.

Facilitates training, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role-playing, simulations, team, exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.

Schedules classes and develops facility-based training calendar based on availability of classrooms, equipment, and instructors.

Administers and scores tests and quizzes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED AND One year of work experience in law enforcement, corrections, firefighting, EMS, or rescue service, one year of which is involved in providing training applicable to area of assignment as an adjunct instructor or as a field training officer on special assignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants, who in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess two or more of the following:

· Current certification as an instructor by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Council.

· Current Certification as an American Heart Association Instructor

· Two or more years of experience in juvenile justice in case management, juvenile correctional officer, juvenile probation/parole specialist, social service provider or other comparable state or county position.

NOTE:

The selected candidate will be Public Safety Training Instructor for Bob Richards RYDC and possibly other areas. This position does require traveling.
