POSITION: DIESEL EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY Lab Assistant/Part-time Hall County Campus

REPORTS TO: Dean of Applied Technology

SALARY RANGE: $15 to $18 hour, depending on education and experience

EFFECTIVE: Immediately

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, assists setting up program and course labs, goals and objectives; Prepares lab/classroom for instructional time for credited Diesel Equipment Technology courses; Helps students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares the lab for classes. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area; Provides the Program Director with feedback on student progress; Responsible for administrative duties related to student advisement, advisory committee meetings, and program development. Other duties as assigned by Program Director/Instructors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Enrolled in a technical diploma program in Diesel Equipment Technology (or closely related program) from a regionally accredited college or university and has work experience in a position related to Diesel Equipment Technology. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

· Ability to assist in all phases of the Medium/Heavy Diesel truck labs.

· Strong electrical/Troubleshooting skills in multiplexing/CAN-Bus

· A knowledge of Diesel equipment service, including experience with maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair.

· Ability to assist with instructional materials, evaluating students’ progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives, ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

· Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.

· Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

· Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making and problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum & technical competencies):

· Completion of a Diploma or Associate’s degree in Diesel Equipment Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university

· Manufacturer Trained/Certified in multiple diesel equipment lines

· ASE Master Certified in Medium / Heavy Truck

· Knowledge of Blackboard (Learning Management System) is desirable
