POSITION SUMMARY

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Performs planning, developing, and implementation of emergency preparedness initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Works with field-based site emergency planners to ensure compliance.
  • Performs, plans, develops, and implements emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Conducts disaster response or crisis management activities, provides disaster preparedness training.
  • Prepares emergency plans and procedures.
  • Conducts annual fire and safety inspections.
  • Training and Technical Assistance
  • Provides ongoing/quarterly/annual training to field-based emergency planners.
  • Develops trainings as needed for the Office of Planning and Preparedness and field-based emergency planners.
  • Develop and maintain liaisons with local municipalities, county departments, emergency management organizations and similar entities to facilitate plan development, response effort coordinator, and exchanges of personnel and/or equipment.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with agency staff, Human Resources staff of facilities and offices, and others as required.

· Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.

· Ability to communicate effectively.

· Ability to exercise initiative and make independent decisions to meet deadlines or to effectively handle priority work.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

· Able to work as a leader, coordinator and effective team member.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma/GED and 5 years of experience in emergency management, which includes 2 years of experience as a lead worker , team lead, or supervisory role; or 2 years of experience required at the lower level Emergency Mgt Spec 1 (PSP071) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Fire Inspector 1 Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Conditions:

· Travel throughout assigned region conducting Fire and Life Safety Inspections

Physical Demands:

· Extensive statewide travel as required

· Moderate lifting as required, up to 15-30 pounds
