Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Dean of Adult Education, the Instructor prepares and provides standards-based instruction for High School Equivalency (HSE) Tests (i.e., GED and HiSET) in the academic areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies for adult education students at WGTC.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time instructor position. Work load is Monday-Friday, some evening hours may be required.

Location of Instruction:

Newnan Campus

Rate of Pay:

$47,000 per year.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience teaching adults basic academic skills (reading, math, writing) in a formal educational setting and/or teaching experience in middle, secondary, adult or post-secondary education.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Teaching experience in adult education within the last two years.
• Advanced degree in content areas of reading, math, English, curriculum and instruction, adult education, or special education.
• Experience working in a formal classroom
• Experience with blackboard.
• Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills;
