The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.
The main office for DBHDD is located in downtown Atlanta.
Job Description
Job Title: Adult Mental Health (MH) / AD - Case Expediter
Pay Grade: K
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting individuals and providers by assuring individuals have initial and ongoing access to recommended services. providers are implementing service models within established guidelines; and actively facilitating access to recommended services.
Facilitate the expedited transition of individuals into recommended ADA services and to promote efficient and effective use of programmatic resources.
Monitor and track ADA individuals in hospitals and the community and produce corresponding tracking and status reports.
Maintain working relationships with individual provider agencies to keep current on individual issues and new services.
Link individual/ family to appropriate services during transition and after discharge.
Attend hearing to advocate for an individual or serve as an expert witness on DBHDD policies and procedures.
Assist state hospital and providers to implement the Transition Action Plan to identify necessary community resources for successful discharge and maintenance in the community.
Community Participation
Attend relevant meetings such as RCCs, CCMs, Quarterly Collaboratives, conferences, regional and central office meetings and other meetings as assigned.
Plans, schedules and leads quarterly RCC to assigned area within Region 6.
Assist in the development, planning and presentation of training to stakeholders, community and within the newly formed Hospital Community Training series.
Provides Technical Assistance to Community Providers
Provide education and consultation to individuals and/or families regarding regional office roles and responsibilities, service design, delivery and availability of services within their communities, and the process of accessing support/ services.
Provides consultation and technical assistance to community providers, law enforcement, Probate Courts, local and state hospitals, and other community stake holders.
Participates and represents the department in community stakeholder meetings.
Training and Continuing Education
Participate in applicable training and continuing education courses to remain abreast in the counseling and behavioral health field.
Ensure up to date on all state-wide training especially Ethics, HIPPA, Confidentiality and remain compliant.
Accepts Assignment
Accepts assignments from RSA or Special projects and completes within time frames with these laws and guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience, One year of which as a supervisor or lead worker OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of related experience OR Two years of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Prgm Consultant 2 (SSP041) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field with at least two years of documented experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, homelessness and impairments in other significant life functioning areas
