Summary Objectives

Under broad supervision, the Housekeeping Supervisor will guide, schedule, instruct, train, and monitor the assignments of subordinate staff. This position primarily performs any combination of housekeeping duties to maintain order, sanitation and cleanliness in all campus facilities.

Supervises the housekeeping day-to-day operations to maintain sanitation, and cleanliness throughout campus facilities that consist of 25+ current active buildings.

Essential Functions

  • Plans and supervises work assignments of subordinate staff
  • Maintains and stocks equipment and supplies as needed
  • Provide a clean and safe working/living environment according to established housekeeping procedures.
  • Responsible for training subordinate staff.
  • Coordinating and rotating on-call responsibilities and other scheduling needs
  • Assist with maintaining linen counts and deliveries.
  • Cleans and maintains room surfaces, fixtures, and furniture; to include: floors, walls, windows, light fixtures, ceiling fans, bathroom showers, sinks, toilets, etc.
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles inside of buildings.
  • Follows and maintains cleaning schedules while working within allotted time frames.
  • Supports subordinate staff with maintaining housekeeping carts and closets adequately to maintain supplies.
  • Stocks, loads, and transports cleaning supplies, linen and mops.
  • Disinfects and cleans student and guest lodging after discharge, including; beds, bathrooms, floors, and furniture.
  • Observes required safety precautions in disposing of contaminated refuse.
  • Uses, maintains, cleans, and stores equipment properly; including: mop buckets, floor machines, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, etc.
  • Understands and follow safety requirements when using cleaning chemicals.
  • Assist Guest Servies with special projects and daily cleaning needs.
  • Perform routine inspections on buildings.
  • Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
  • Maintains professional behavior when completing tasks and interacting with others as a team member.
  • Sits on interview panels for Housekeeper positions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position performs limited supervisory duties for the department staff in the absence of the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Work Environment

This job operates within a residential campus. This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. This position requires some work outside for special cleaning projects like washing windows to exterior structures.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodations can be made available to qualified individuals upon request.

Position Typer and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This position is on a Holiday and weekend rotation, which will require occasional weekend work. This position may occasionally require longer hours.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be requested to attend training specific to job or assistance is needed to support housekeeping at the Cave Springs Center Campus.

One (1) year of experience in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role in a related area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Housekeeper 3 (FES042) or position equivalent.
