Job Summary
The Coordinator, Student Retention and Advisement organizes focused advisement services to help student progress in
their programs of study. Develops partnerships with every area of the college to ensure accurate information is provided
to students regarding support services, resources and curricular offerings. Maintains current program completion sheets
and knowledge of all certificate, diploma and degree. Ability to function and meet students where they are on campus
or in fully digital environment. Leads and organizes healthcare and program information sessions in a digital and oncampus environment to retain both new and current students. Establishes and maintain relationship with technical
program directors and chairs to maintain current program requirements and expectations. Works with Director to
develop student engagement strategies to retain both new and continuing students. Additionally, this position
Completes other advising duties as required such as authorizing add/drops, and conducting degree audits. This position
maybe located at any campus (Murphy, Douglas, Carroll, Coweta and Lagrange).


Essential Functions

Provides and organizes retention efforts and plans for the college (75%)
• Designs and maintains all the program completion sheets for all certificates, diploma and degree in collaboration with Academic Affairs.
• Provides oversight of Healthcare Information sessions collects, analyzes and reports data to help determine scheduling need, cost and effectiveness of Information sessions.
• Provides oversight of (WGTC 1101) Program Information sessions collect, analyze and reports data to determine the effectiveness if these sessions.
• Enters session completion data into banner and tracks participation in information sessions.
• Supports and maintains frequent communications about college resources with students placed on academic probation and students placed on financial aid warning.
• Works with Financial Aide department, faculty and staff to facilitate advisement and academic progress review for students identified for satisfactory academic plans.
• Assists with any backlog caused by high advisement demand.
• Organizes Student Engagement and Retention projects on each campus. Secures support from faculty leadership and student life for projects. Provide monthly reports to department leadership detailing success of retention efforts.
• Maintains the Retention module in TargetX including ongoing training for users, institutional awareness of early alert efforts and peer group participation at TCSG level.
• Proficient in the operations of the Advisement Office application’s systems—Banner, BDM, Axiom, TargetX Retention and add ons, TEAMS, Degree Works, Mongoose (texting), Upswing (tutoring), Office 365, WebX and presentation software and other future systems.
• Organizes communication and retention efforts regarding no show students and stop out prevention.
• Provides solutions for students’ academic and personal issues/concerns and provides referral/intervention services.
• Attends department advisement trainings, divisional meeting and collaborates with Academic Affairs teams. Participates as needed in projects or in cross-functional college committees.
Completes Administrative tasks in a timely manner. (20%)
• Supports the goals of the QEP and provides accurate data for tracking purposes. Responsible for department reporting retention efforts involving WGTC initiatives.
• Leads retention trainings as needed for the college when requested.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses computer technology and required
student database systems (Banner, TargetX, Degreeworks, TEAMS, BDM, etc.). Job function conducted on campus with
frequent multi-campus travel. Correspondence can be virtual or face to face requiring professional interaction.

to stand; walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs;
talk or hear. The employee must occasionally life or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.


Position Type. Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, main on campus responsibilities on ALL campuses as needed during the week. Requires some
telework hours and interaction\corresponding weekend work required depending on administrative demand and need.


Travel
Travel to other campuses location is required. Overnight travel would be required for training and professional
development.


Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree


Preferred Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree *and* Three (3) years of Academic Advising or directing academic progression experience.
• Master’s degree in related field
• 3 years of FT Supervisory Experience
• 3 years Administrative and/or Data Analytics Experience
• Proficiency in Banner, BDM, Degreeworks, TargetX, TEAMS platforms
• Working knowledge of Upswing Online Tutoring.
• Understanding of TCSG and the core mission.
• Customer oriented and knowledge of NACADA standards.
