Job Overview: The EMS Clinical Coordinator and EMS Instructor is responsible for overseeing clinical education and providing instruction for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), and Paramedic courses. This dual role involves managing clinical training programs, evaluating student performance, and delivering high-quality instruction in the classroom and field settings.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, 36 hours on-campus at Clarkesville and Blairsville, 4 hours telework

Monday and Wednesday: Clarkesville campus, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Tuesday and Thursday: Blairsville campus, 12:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Remaining 4 hours: Telecommuting via emails, phone calls, emergency student contacts and additional remote work as required

Schedule may be changed as needed

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Coordinator Duties:

1. Clinical Education Management:

· Develop and implement clinical training schedules and placements for EMS students.

· Coordinate with clinical sites to ensure compliance with educational standards and program requirements.

· Monitor and assess clinical training effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to improve student outcomes.

2. Student Support and Evaluation:

· Mentor and guide EMS students during their clinical rotations.

· Evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and addressing issues as they arise.

· Support students in overcoming clinical challenges and achieving their learning objectives.

3. Faculty and Clinical Site Coordination:

· Collaborate with instructional staff to integrate clinical experiences with classroom learning.

· Facilitate communication between faculty, clinical sites, and students to ensure a cohesive educational experience.

4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

· Confirm clinical education meets or exceeds College, State, and CoAEMSP requirements.

· Ensure clinical training adheres to regulatory and accreditation standards.

· Maintain accurate records of student performance, clinical hours, and site evaluations.

· Conduct regular evaluations of clinical sites to ensure adherence to program standards.

5. Administrative Duties:

· Continually seek out additional clinical and field opportunities to enhance students’ clinical education.

· Manage the scheduling and coordination of clinical rotations and related activities.

· Handle documentation, reporting, and correspondence related to clinical education.

· Prepare reports on student progress, clinical site performance, and program effectiveness.

6. Emergency Response and Problem Resolution:

· Address and resolve issues or emergencies that arise during clinical training.

· Serve as a primary contact for students, clinical sites, and faculty regarding clinical training matters.

EMS Instructor Duties:

1. Instructional Responsibilities:

· Deliver high-quality instruction in EMS courses, including lectures, practical exercises, and simulations.

· Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments.

· Ensure that instructional content meets educational standards and aligns with current EMS practices.

2. Student Assessment and Support:

· Assess and evaluate student performance through examinations, practical skills assessments, and other evaluative methods.

· Provide feedback to students on their progress and areas for improvement.

· Offer academic and career guidance to students, helping them achieve their professional goals.

3. Course and Program Development:

· Contribute to the development and enhancement of EMS curriculum and training programs.

· Stay current with advancements in EMS practices and integrate new knowledge into instructional content.

4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

· Ensure that instructional activities comply with accreditation and regulatory requirements.

· Participate in program reviews and assessments to maintain the quality and effectiveness of EMS education.

5. Professional Development:

· Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of changes in EMS education and practices.

· Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree in Paramedic Technology or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution

Current Georgia License as a Paramedic in good standings.

Current Geogia License as an Instructor/Coordinator at the AEMT level

AHA BLS Instructor

Minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Paramedic Technology or equivalent from a regionally accredited Institution

Current Geogia License as an Instructor/Coordinator at the Paramedic level

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification the Paramedic Level

5 Years post-secondary teaching experience

AHA ACLS and PALS Instructor

PHTLS or ITLS Instructor

Required Skills

Strong organizational, communication, and instructional skills; proficiency with EMS technology and educational software.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders from across the College and the community to create, preserve, and enhance important partnerships.

Provide support for both adjunct and full-time colleagues in the form of consultation and cooperation; work as effective team members when required.
