JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Office of Chaplaincy Services, the Regional Chaplain will be responsible for addressing the spiritual needs of DJJ youth and staff by providing pastoral care to youth, their families, and Department of Juvenile Justice staff.

NOTE:

· This is a full-time, salaried position which includes health benefits, paid vacation, and sick leave.

· The position location is in or near the Northwest, GA region

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

· Provide Pastoral Care Visits as needed

· Provide direct ministry including counseling, teaching, and proclamation

· Plan Programs

· Perform administrative duties including recruitment and oversight of faith-based volunteers/services utilizing teaching model of Prayer, Meditation, Study & Service

· Develop support for facility and community reentry

· Attend funerals/memorial services of staff members

· Send condolence notices to acknowledge deceased members of staff

· Provide Supervisory Oversight of Library of Religion & Spiritual Thought

· Perform Site Visits using procedures and protocol

· Provide oversight for ACA standards and facility compliance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • OR six (6) years of related professional experience which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over year.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelors or Associates in Pastoral Care/Theological Studies

· Experience in youth ministry and spiritual formation in community or institutional setting

· Experience in working with at-risk, troubled, or incarcerated youth

· Prior pastoral and ministry experience with a juvenile justice agency

· Ordination or in ordination process

· MDiv in Pastoral Care from accredited University

· Experience in providing pastoral care to staff in an institutional setting

· 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education

· Experience in working with justice involved youth
