The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for a Communications Specialist position in the Office of Adult Education. The Communications Specialist is responsible for providing communications and marketing support to the Office of Adult Education and local Adult Education programs. This position will report directly to the Digital Systems and Communications Manager. This position is part time, working an average of 15-20 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the creation of content and coordination of social media posts via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. to inform and educate regarding Adult Education in Georgia
  • Design marketing collateral including flyers, ads, presentations, videos, and more to support the Office of Adult Education and local Adult Education programs
  • Produce a monthly e-newsletter via MailChimp
  • Write for a variety of platforms, including articles, notices, presentations, social media, email communications, email and text messaging campaigns,
  • Research trends and outreach related to Adult Education communication strategies to ensure that the target audience is reached
  • Collaborate with other departments and local Adult Education programs to execute cross-functional campaigns

· Coordinate with team members to ensure internal website is up-to-date and effective, and review provider websites to ensure accuracy of content and suggestions for enhancement

  • Attending media or committee meetings, as needed
  • Performs other related duties, as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Currently enrolled in or have obtained a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in managing social media for a group, organization, or agency (paid or unpaid).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and G Suite (Docs, Sheets and Slides)

· Experience with digital platforms and tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud applications (PhotoShop, InDesign, Premier Pro, or Illustrator specifically), and experience capturing and editing video content

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

· Excellent writing and presentation skills

· Knowledge of marketing and digital content best practices

· Knowledge of social media platforms and marketing automation tools

· Strong creative skills and ability to translate ideas or concepts into actionable projects

· Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

· Organizational and project management skills

· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
