The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- School and District Improvement is recruiting for an experienced Professional Learning Program Specialist. The Professional Learning Program Specialist, under the limited supervision of the Division Program Manager, this position will work collaboratively with Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) and Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs) to provide systems and schools guidance and training for school improvement. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Effectively plan, implement, and monitor professional learning opportunities
- Prepare and maintain a professional learning plan that calendarizes learning opportunities for SDI staff, identified schools and districts, and non-identified schools and districts
- Develop, implement, monitor, and sustain professional learning presentations, resources, partnerships, and modules to meet identified needs outlined in the professional learning plan as well as any professional learning/presentations requested by the Deputy Superintendent
- Ensure professional learning experiences are captured, updated, and maintained in Teams, GA Learns and/or GaDOE Community Professional Learning Catalog, and on the SDI website
- Collect, analyze, and disseminate professional development impact data
- Effectively plan and facilitate face-to-face professional learning events
- Work with venues to secure meeting space, create terms for events, select menus, and obtain post-event invoices
- Develop agendas, registration processes, content, and secure speakers as requested
- Collaborate with GaDOE staff to coordinate and secure contracts for venues and for event invoicing and payment
- Provide on-site event facilitation, as needed, to include the procurement and set up of supplies, materials, and equipment
- Effectively facilitate and maintain division communication processes
- Manage division communication processes (newsletters, bulletins, GaDOE Community, staff lists, email contact groups and social media)
- Maintain the SDI and GaDOE Teams sites
- Manage the SDI website, GaDOE Community and GaDOE Inspire
- Ensure the alignment of SDI PL and PL events with GaDOE policies and expectations
- Effectively facilitate and maintain division orientation, technology, and supply processes
- Collaborate with GaDOE to issue and collect technology hardware for new hires, exiting employees, and for technology refreshes to include maintaining an inventory of division technology devices
- Manage the process for staff to order and obtain supplies to include maintaining an inventory of division level supplies
- Develop, implement, and monitor the orientation process for new hires
- Manage the creation and revision of SDI processes
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, have experience in the following:
- Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification (Applicants who fail to submit the required documentation will not be considered)
- Three (3) three years of experience in professional learning/staff development at the school, system, RESA or state level
- Working knowledge of current research on professional learning and school improvement initiatives/programs
- Working knowledge of performance standards and instructional design
- Successful experience with leading or assisting schools to develop school improvement plans supported by high-quality professional learning experiences that are job-embedded and focused on impacting student achievement; and
- Experience with training and supporting professional staff as well as training module development
- Experience with technology platforms and the Microsoft Office Suite
****This is a remote/telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Statewide travel is required, as well as frequent trips to GaDOE's Atlanta office. This position is for internal Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) staff only!
