Job Summary:
The Dean for the School of Public Safety and Professional Services is responsible for the development, administration and leadership of Public Safety and Professional Services while promoting the college to public and private organizations. The Dean will ensure consistent review and revision of academic policies, procedures, rules and regulations and other criteria across all campuses. The responsibilities of this position relate to both day and evening programs in terms of development and operation. Routine travel between all campuses is required.


Essential Functions:

• Works with faculty, deans, directors, AVPAA and VPAA as part of the academic management team. Provides leadership and supervision for all academic courses and services within the respective division in a multi-campus setting.
• Promotes instructional programming to public and private organizations
• Supervises personnel per the organizational structure of the college to include the associate dean, instructional coordinator, program specialist and program assistant. Completes performance management evaluations, monitors and approves leave, reviews and approves staff development plans of division faculty and staff
• Works with Human Resources and AVPAA to coordinate new faculty and staff hires and verifies appropriate faculty qualifications.
• Oversees financial/budget operation of the School of Public Safety and Professional Services; reviews and approves all requests for supplies and materials, including all curriculum materials for programs;
• Oversees enrollment and registration processes; assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts
• Oversees accreditation attainment and continuance activities for programmatic and State of GA requirements; maintains licensure as required by position and accreditation agencies
• Resolves student complaints and issues
• Provides leadership for compliance with WGTC and TCSG policy and department procedures; develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of programs and division
• Supervise and evaluate effectiveness of programs and instructors; reviews course evaluations by students and takes appropriate action when necessary. Compiles program statistics to include enrollment, retention rates, graduation rates and licensure rates where applicable. Oversees student learning outcomes
• Administers divisional program budgets. Coordinates the annual instructional budget submissions and is responsible for monitoring program and approving instructional budget and purchasing
• Attends advisory committee meetings; serve as a liaison between the college, business and industry. Shares college policies and procedures where applicable, ensures documentation of advisory committee per policy
• Oversees development of program course rotations/schedules and faculty teaching assignments
• Recommends and coordinates curriculum changes, program additions and program terminations in the applicable academic division. Updates AA leadership as needed on changes/revision to programs
• Coordinates with appropriate faculty/staff to facilitate the processes of program articulation, accreditation, and/or certification. Maintains up-to-date policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives
• Provides supervision and support to staff responsible for development of course shells and for Blackboard training and instructional assistance
• Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and assists students, coworkers and the general public with questions, concerns and processes in a pleasant and professional manner
• Maintains knowledge of assigned program areas and gives updates to management on services, operations, and projects
• Accepts direction and feedback from supervisors
• Performs other duties as otherwise assigned

Required Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree in course of study related to one of the occupational fields listed within the
specific division as applicable.

• Three (3) years of full-time employment in teaching
*AND/OR*
• Supervisory experience in post-secondary.


Preferred Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree in course of study related to one of the occupational fields listed within the specific division as applicable.
• Minimum of five years of direct supervision or management experience
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, Banner, Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) and Blackboard Ultra
• Knowledge of the accreditation process with experience in writing a self-study and conducting a site visit.
• Skilled in the delegation of responsibility and authority, interpersonal relations and decision making and problem-solving skills


Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office
equipment and technologies.

successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, M-F administrative position with occasional evenings or weekends, based on needs. Travel to other campuses for meetings, trainings, and professional development is essential.


Travel:
Travel to other campuses regularly. Occasional overnight travel required for training, meetings and professional development.
