Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Computer Sciences Division that reports to the Program Director – Computer Programming.
Salary: Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum bases on contact hours taught.
Minimum Requirements (Job Code 10317): Bachelor’s degree in field and 18 graduate hours in field; OR Master’s degree in field and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Any applicable certifications directly related to CIS field instructor is teaching. Postsecondary teaching experience in Programming and Database. Web Development experience. Proficient in one or more programming languages, including Java, C++, Python, Swift, Kotlin, and SQL, and must effectively communicate complex programming concepts.
Certain positions are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment. Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment.
Job Description: Prepares and delivers lecture and/or lab course material. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for general core courses. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Be capable of conducting CIS-related courses in both in-person and online formats and adept at engaging with students at various skill levels. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering engaging lectures and lab sessions, creating concept quizzes or comprehensive projects for midterms and finals, evaluating student progress, maintaining required documentation, ensuring safety and security in the classroom, and assisting with recruitment and retention efforts. The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, professional development, and fostering an inclusive learning environment while being receptive to feedback to enhance instructional practices. Experience in college-level teaching is preferred.
