Northern Judicial Circuit – Criminal Investigator I, II, or III


The Northern Judicial Circuit Office is looking for a Criminal Investigator I, II, or III in Royston, Georgia. This position trains to perform routine investigative duties. The candidate will conduct investigations to include assisting in interviewing witnesses, complainants, and/or law enforcement officials, obtaining evidence, and assisting attorneys in case preparation. Must be able to communicate well with clients and independently meet with clients as well. The Criminal Investigator position will require day travel, requiring a valid Class C driver’s license. This is an entry/training level position within the Criminal Investigators job series.

Description of Duties: The Criminal Investigator will demonstrate proficiency in the performance of the essential duties and responsibilities. The duties in this position will progressively increase as the incumbent becomes more familiar with the investigative and legal procedures for felony cases. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and one (1) year of related experience; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and three (3) years of experience in law enforcement or related field; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Criminal Investigator 1 (PSP090) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require the incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
