Under supervision, counsels and assists veterans, their dependents and survivors in applying for all veterans entitlement programs in accordance with Title 38 US Code of Federal Regulations, state and federal policies, procedures, and guidelines. Performs related duties as directed. Interviews & counsels clients concerning all veterans benefit entitlement programs. Maintains knowledge of trends and changes in laws by reading appropriate regulations, laws, and other literature, and attending seminars and conferences pertaining to veterans benefits. Establishes and maintains a working relationship with the public, community, veterans organizations, and elected officials. Assist office manager with functional responsibilities as directed.. May collaborate with VA Medical Center personnel to assure veterans are receiving timely uninterrupted medical care and benefits. Provides administrative support for regular office operation and special projects.

Must have a valid driver's license, able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NAC-I) and fingerprints to obtain a required Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This condition of employment may not be waived. Failure to obtain a PIV card will result in immediate termination of employment.

Must pass the Training Responsibility Involvement Preparation of Claims Test (TRIP).

High school diploma or GED AND Two years of college level coursework in any field (minimum 60 semester hours or equivalent) AND Six months of clerical level experience that included typing or word processing and interviewing.
