Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Security Director & Chief of Police, the Assistant Director of the JRC leads and provides guidance in the administration and management of DBHDD's Jail Based Restoration Center (JRC) and supervises staff. Oversees the business operations, and security functions of the center/facility. May oversee the offender and treatment programs. Directs and personally monitors state prison security functions and activities to maintain the custody and security of prisoners.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and enforce policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment protecting the life and property of individuals, staff, and visitors to the JRC.
- Oversee the daily security operations of the JRC and conduct regular meetings to ensure operations and programs are compliant with Georgia laws, local ordinances, and agency policies.
- Oversee correctional staff in the areas related to institutional emergency plans, crime prevention, safety plans and security policies.
- Lead incident response efforts for security incidents at the JRC. May assist local and/or stat law enforcement in criminal investigations precipitated at the JRC location.
- Collaborate in the development and management of security awareness and training programs for general staff. Ensure correctional staff are compliant with Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council standards and regulations.
- Ensure the communication process with correctional, security, program management and administrative of the JRC and DBHDD hospital operations is collaborative, positive and effective.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges corrections employees. Monitors, inspects, and evaluates operations, programs, services, activities, and conditions.
- Oversees and/or conducts inspections, searches, investigations, and evaluations.
- Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. Will manage large numbers of agency staff or have large scope of responsibility within agency.
- Directs and provides guidance in the administration and management of the center/facility. Establishes procedures for offender release and out service program. Monitors the acceptance and rejection of residents into the center/facility program based on entrance criteria.
- Oversees the business operations.
- Supervises JRC staff; Handles discipline and termination of employment as needed and in accordance with the company policy.
High school diploma/GED, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of supervisory custodial experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, one (1) year of which experience is at a level equivalent to Correctional Lieutenant (PSP065) involving management of staff through subordinate supervisors or managers, or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Correctional Asst Supt (PSP120) or position equivalent.
