Financial Aid Technician

The Financial Aid Technician is responsible for performing administrative, clerical, and customer service duties in support of the student financial aid process.
This position is responsible for:
- Greeting internal and external customers
- Determining the nature of customer needs and providing timely and accurate information
- Operating a multi-line telephone system as well as responding to and archiving financial aid emails
- Sorting, processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and electronic communications
- Processing student financial aid applications and preparing student financial aid files
- Maintaining inventory of all financial aid documents submitted by contributors to determine financial aid eligibility for students
- Assisting with all processes and procedures including financial aid, admissions, advisement, and registration
- Assist with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) outreach to high school and community events
- Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working with the public in a customer service environment, exceptional customer focus is a must.
- One-year documented employment with post-secondary education institution.
Preferred Qualifications (In addition to minimum)
- Associate degree in accounting or related field
- One (1) year or more of financial aid work experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Demands
The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight, up to 25 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
