Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education – School and District Improvement Division (SDI) is seeking an Operations Specialist to support the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of Title I 1003a funds and other improvement-focused funding opportunities. This position plays a key role in cross-functional grant oversight, funding compliance, professional development, and collaborative problem-solving to improve student outcomes in federally identified schools and districts.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, implement, and monitor the disbursement of Title I 1003a and grant funds in alignment with federal, state, and agency guidelines
  • Collaborate with GaDOE and district personnel to ensure proper use and impact of improvement funds
  • Provide technical assistance and training to internal and external stakeholders on best practices for managing and applying funds
  • Conduct and support Cross-Functional Monitoring with Federal Programs to ensure fiscal compliance and effectiveness
  • Collect, track, and respond to reporting requirements related to grants and 1003a funding
  • Serve as SDI Privacy Officer, managing access and privacy protocols for portals and systems
  • Manage contract and funding processes, including submission of items to the State Board of Education for approval
  • Create and maintain efficient processes for grant implementation, data reviews, onboarding, and internal operations
  • Support the onboarding and ongoing training of new team members
  • Contribute to special projects including process revisions, auditing teams, and the development of tools and materials for school improvement
  • Participate in cross-agency collaborative teams, contributing to a strong team culture of accountability and innovation

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in education, education administration, public policy, or a related field
  • Experience with state or federal education funding, including grant writing or grant oversight
  • Strong knowledge of ESSA requirements, Title I programs, and Georgia’s ESSA plan
  • Experience coordinating school or district improvement efforts
  • Experience with training development and facilitation for educators or leaders
  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Teams, Excel, JotForm, and project management platforms
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and support cross-functional teams
  • Experience navigating state approval processes for contracts, funding, and compliance
  • Experience providing direct support to school and district leaders
  • Statewide travel may be required

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
