Under general supervision, plan, direct or coordinate therapeutic recreation programs. Activities include sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Conducts assessment of a clients condition and recommend appropriate recreational activity.
Job Description:
- Lead and facilitate a range of psychoeducational and therapeutic groups within our Wellness Center.
- Plans, organizes, directs and participates in treatment programs and activities to facilitate clients' rehabilitation, help them integrate into the community and prevent further medical problems.
- Observes, analyzes, and document clients' participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed. Instructs client in activities and techniques, such as sports, gardening, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques, designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs.
- Develops treatment plans and therapeutic interventions when request are received from the Recovery Planning Team (RPT), also providing other forms of active treatment programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities or Mental Health
- Experience writing progress notes related to Recovery Plan objectives
- Experience in facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups
- Experience in working with plants/gardens/Greenhouse environments and knowledge/skills of horticulture practices
1. Must pass a pre-employment background check (which includes criminal records check, driver's history, and verification of work history) and a post-hire federal background investigation.
2. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program.
3. Eligible to work in the U.S.
4. Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
