Education Program Specialist - Instructional Technology Specialist

Description of Duties:
The Georgia Department of Education - Internal Technology Department is recruiting for an Instructional Technology Specialist. Under limited supervision of the Technology Services Knowledge Development Manager, the Instructional Technology Specialist demonstrates excellent communication and presentation skills, provides training and consultative services to local school systems and educators on the exchange of knowledge on GaDOE applications (Data and Learning applications: SuitCASE, Inspire, Georgia Learns, GaDOE Community, SLDS/My Georgia Insights and other applications) and maintains high-quality service and support to stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and coordination in the development, administration, and exchange of training material and other technological resources available to support K-12 education
- Develop and facilitate primarily digital/virtual professional training to LEA and RESA personnel, limited travel may be required within Georgia
- Support the development of data literacy, data privacy, and digital literacy skills
- Develop and facilitate a train-the-trainer model such as an ambassador program for educators and school/district leaders to support the utilization of GaDOE applications
- Serve as a GaDOE Community moderator for Technology Services
- Identify and design digital content that supports knowledge exchange (in a variety of formats: presentation, video, newsletter, webinar, and online course content) for Technology
- Services and/or in collaboration with other Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) divisions
- Coordinate among GaDOE teams to support GaDOE’s Data Modernization project and My Georgia Insights to increase the role of data-informed decision making for education decision makers
- Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation; and collaborating with other GaDOE divisions to meet technology services goals
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to knowledge management as evident through work products, processes and culture as well as demonstrate a strong commitment to professional growth by engaging in professional learning related to work responsibilities and duties; other duties as assigned
- Must live in the State of Georgia
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Must have or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator's certification;
- Master's degree in education, education administration, instructional technology, business or a closely related field
- Five (5) years of experience delivering K-12 content; and advanced-level skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience teaching in a K-12 classroom
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to build relationships across teams and stakeholder groups
- Familiarity with data literacy, digital citizenship, and data privacy best practices in K-12 education
- Experience in developing and conducting engaging, meaningful training and professional learning activities; presenting at local, state, or national level. Experience delivering virtual professional learning and developing asynchronous training content for educators.
- Experience developing professional learning materials for online instruction. Strong skills in digital content creation, including presentations, videos, webinars, and online course modules
- Demonstrates knowledge of Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) applications such as SuitCASE, Inspire, Georgia Learns, GaDOE Community, and SLDS/My Georgia Insights
- Experience successfully integrating technology within teaching and learning environments for adult learners (Microsoft Teams, Canvas, SuitCASE, Inspire, GaDOE Community, etc.)
- Mastery in a wide range of computer application skills including video editing, webinar production, and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience designing and implementing train-the-trainer or ambassador-style professional development models
- Experience moderating or managing online professional communities or knowledge-sharing platforms
- Proactive and highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and drive initiatives forward
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth
