The Student Accounts Manager is responsible for the accounting transactions related to tuition and fee charges, payments, and financial aid awards within the Banner student account software system.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

· Maintain student financial records including charges, payments and grant awards

· Reconcile student account information in Banner and record related revenue and expense into the general ledger by journal entry

· Maintain software coding in Banner system including detail and priority codes

· Prepare or direct preparation of student billing and other student mass communications

· Assist students with questions concerning financial obligations

· Manage or direct management of related financial awards and transactions through third parties including private companies, Nelnet, Veterans Affairs and others

· Prepare or oversee preparation of student financial aid refunds

· Ensure financial aid balances by comparing awards with the College Financial Aid Office, College Business Office, and US Dept of Education / Ga Student Finance Commission.

· Coordinate with Financial Aid Office and Registrar to establish important college calendar dates such as dates for billing and student refunds.

· Issue 1098T tax forms annually

· Perform write off of unpaid balances in accordance with established procedures

· Assist in compiling information requested by external or internal audits

· Complete fiscal year end closing procedures involving student accounts

· Assist with other duties as assigned which may include, but not limited to, bank reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and clerical duties such a filing and scanning

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, public administration or closely related field *and* two (2) years of experience in accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Knowledge of Federal and State Student Financial Aid including Veterans Benefits

· Previous experience with Banner Student Accounts

Note: Banner software training is available through on-the-job training, training videos, and peer group meetings as needed

Physical Demands:

Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. The employee frequently bends, lifts and carries lightweight objects up to 25 pounds. The ability to speak clearly is required. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
