Position Summary:
The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Property and Supply Supervisor 1 to oversee and coordinate warehouse operations at a central storage facility. This position plays a critical role in managing the receiving, storing, inventorying, and distribution of a large volume of materials and supplies essential to the daily functions of DJJ facilities and programs. The ideal candidate will be capable of performing physical labor, managing inventory systems, supervising staff, and ensuring warehouse operations are efficient, compliant, and well-organized.
Key Responsibilities:
· Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, store, and maintain accurate inventory records of supplies and materials using established procedures and inventory systems. Create Affidavit for any Surplus items and prepare them to be destroyed.
· Distribution: Issue and distribute materials and supplies in a timely manner to appropriate locations or departments. Fill requisitions for Cottages where the youth are housed and the Facility Department Requisitions.
· Shipping & Receiving: Inspect deliveries for accuracy and condition of all goods inbound with the attached packing slip inside the package. Place outgoing mail in the mail ben for pick up by USPS or Fedex.
· ·Warehouse Oversight: Maintain order and cleanliness of the warehouse; ensure safe storage practices and compliance with safety regulations. Keeping and accurate count on all supplies in the Warehouse.
· ·Supervision: May supervise warehouse clerks or support staff; provide direction and monitor performance to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
· Recordkeeping: May input data into Wasp and Assetworks for inventory management software following appropriate training.
· Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment as required.
· Compliance & Security: Ensure inventory and supply management complies with all applicable rules, regulations, and departmental policies.
· Vehicle Inspection- Maintain a weekly vehicle inspection for each State vehicle
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience in inventory, purchasing, or supply chain management; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Purchasing Agent 1 (FET040) or equivalent position. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
· Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods and working in varying warehouse climates.
· Ability to follow written and oral instructions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
· Basic understanding of warehouse operations and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
· 1 to 2 years of experience or formal training in warehouse operations, inventory management, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
· Experience using inventory tracking systems (PeopleSoft, Wasp, Asset Work experience a plus).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Experience supervising warehouses or supply staff is desirable.
Work Environment:
· Work is primarily performed in a warehouse setting.
· Exposure to varying temperatures and warehouse conditions is expected.
· Requires physical effort, including lifting, carrying, standing, bending, and operating warehouse equipment.
