The Executive Director, Veteran Homelessness is responsible for establishing a state-wide Veteran Homeless Prevention Program to coordinate and expand services that prevent and reduce homelessness among Georgia’s veterans and their families. The Executive Director will lead the creation, implementation, and management of this initiative from inception. The position reports directly to the Commissioner and will design and operationalize a comprehensive statewide strategy integrating housing stability, prevention services, outreach, and cross‑agency coordination. The Executive Director, Veteran Homelessness plans and assists with operational and programmatic activities for their department, establishes and implements policies and procedures. Directs subordinate managers and staff. Provides leadership across multiple units, departments, and/or regions .Lead and manage Georgia’s statewide Veteran Homeless Prevention Program, directing strategy, operations, and program implementation to prevent and reduce homelessness among Georgia’s veteran population.

  • Supervise and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately five direct reports, establishing performance goals, accountability measures, and professional development plans.
  • Design and implement statewide policies, procedures, and service delivery models that align with federal VA programs, state statutes, and best practices in veteran housing stability.
  • Coordinate with GDVS field offices, community partners, and local governments to create an integrated system for identifying at-risk veterans and intervening before housing instability escalates to homelessness.
  • Oversee program budgeting, grant management, and fiscal accountability, ensuring responsible stewardship of state, federal, and philanthropic funding sources

Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or nine (9) years of related professional experience which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or five (5) years of experience required at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
