POSITION: Commercial Truck Driving Professional Lab Assistant, Part Time

DESCRIPTION:
The Professional Laboratory Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members and assists with instructing students in commercial truck driving skills in the Commercial Truck Driving Certificate program. The Professional Lab Assistant will need to demonstrate driving abilities and comply with all DOT regulations. The position assists in evaluating student progress in attaining goals and objectives, maintains inside and outside lab environments, and assists in creating and facilitating lab activities with student groups. The position ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area and assists in maintaining equipment and inventory.
The position requires performing physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, and walking for three (3) to four (4) continuous hours at a time. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment. The position may involve teaching traditional day and/or evening classes up to 29 hours a week Monday through Thursday and may require occasional Friday work hours. Travel may be required with accompanying the instructor on curricular field trips. Position is non-exempt.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Class A CDL license
Clean 7-year MVR
DOT physical exam
Work related experience
