Description of Duties
The Georgia Department of Education – Office of Finance and Business Operations, Pupil Transportation is recruiting for an experienced Education Research and Evaluation Specialist. The incumbent in this position will develop statewide curriculum and coordinates the activities of consultants in the areas of school bus driver education and staff development/in-service programs. Duties include, but not limited to:
Job Summary
Compile and analyze statewide accident data
Develop and revise school bus driver training and safety manuals
Assist with the organization of our annual technician’s workshop
Develop techniques and instruments for improving pupil transportation operations
Conduct program evaluation activities
Develop and assist with the development of the annual safety renewal education program
Assist in the local school system allotment process
Develop and conduct staff development programs for school bus drivers
Develop forms and reports with Internal Technology to gather and analyze electronic data from local school systems
Assist the Director of Pupil Transportation with budget planning and specification development
Assist with the formula driven survey used to determine allocation of buses
- Provide general consultative services and provide clear and accurate information to the public to address and resolve pupil transportation concerns
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
Central office, system, or district level public school administration experience
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership (L-6)

Experience in budget preparation, grant writing, program evaluation, and/or program development
