Please Note: The position will be responsible for driving to and working with 16 counties in Central GA. Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Macon, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Talbot, Taylor, Twiggs Upson, Butts, Lamar, and Pike.

SUMMARY: (Why does the job exist?)

The Energy Efficiency Education Coordinator delivers energy efficiency education that supports statewide ducation and workforce educational initiatives in PreK through Grade 12. The coordinator will spend most of their time in classrooms, as well as in schools and communities, providing hands-on application, working with educators and community leaders, supporting CTAE pathways, promoting web-based learning opportunities, and hosting educational and workforce connectivity events. The coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for all energy efficiency education needs, will support CTAE initiatives, and lead and support career connectivity events in their geographic territory.

The coordinator will be responsible for managing specific projects related to energy efficiency and wincludindevelopment but not limited to energy efficiency training, teacher externships, and community board and advisory work. The coordinator supports, educates, leads, and increases public awareness and understanding of the need for efficient use of energy and the creation of pathways to energy and high-demand careers. The coordinator drives Georgia Power’s position not only as employer of choice but also as a leading corporate citizen.

Office location will be in Macon, GA. (The position has potential growth within the Job family from a Level 3 thru 5.)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (education, experience, knowledge, skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience developing and delivering educational curriculum.

  • Knowledge of local education systems, local leadership, chambers, and workforce boards.

  • Previous experience working with external groups including school districts, chambers of commerce, technical colleges and other stakeholders.

  • Understanding of local workforce industry needs.

  • Excellent communication skills - written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills to include public speaking to varied audiences.

  • Organizational and project management skills, strategic, and analytical thinking skills.

  • Ability to motivate in influence without positional leadership.

  • Experience in managing multiple projects and working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Ability to build internal and external relationships.

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and self-directed.

  • Understanding of the company’s operations, policies, and procedures.

  • Must model Southern Company Values

  • Safety focused is a must, this is a safety sensitive position.

  • Storm duty assignment is a requirement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (major responsibilities of the job)

  • Deliver and enhance energy efficiency education programs and workforce initiatives to students PreK-Grade 12, to increase their understanding of energy efficiency and modify energy use behavior, attract them to the energy industry and drive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and career initiatives.

  • Promote careers to build awareness, connections, understanding, and interest in energy career pathways and energy efficiency in Georgia.

  • Identify and actively seek opportunities to grow the education and workforce initiative into local school systems and though other education and community partners.

  • Identify and cultivate community contacts and develop collaborative relationships with community members, organizations and educational institutions to identify opportunities for Georgia Power involvement.

  • Act as single point of contact and secure strong relationships for the region energy efficiency and workforce initiatives.

  • Work with leadership to drive public relations for the region energy efficiency and workforce initiatives.

  • Coordinate energy efficiency education and workforce related programs and activities that align with business unit needs.

  • Partner with workforce development to coordinate energy career pathway initiatives as well as the skills trades to meet industry needs within the region.
