Reports to: Transmission Construction Substation Manager
Location: Reports out of Forest Park, GA (GPC Transmission Construction Building) and requires statewide travel.
NOTE: This position has statewide responsibilities, and frequent travel within the state of Georgia is required – up to 50% of the time. Open to candidates maintaining their regular office in a different area of the state if the candidate is willing to travel to Forest Park as needed.
Job Summary
The Switchboard Wiring Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and direction to a team of 5 foremen and up to 60 covered wiremen with statewide responsibilities for all field control wiring required on substation projects that are part of the Georgia Power Transmission capital investment portfolio. This position will be responsible for ensuring that Switchboard crews have the training, equipment, and resources to successfully execute their projects. This position is also responsible for leading the team in their support of capital maintenance and restoration work in partnership with the Transmission Maintenance Centers across the state.
The supervisor will conduct ongoing performance management and ensure robust plans for employee training and development at all levels in support of an active learning environment. This position interfaces with Training and Safety to support the initial and ongoing training within Switchboard.
The Switchboard Wiring Supervisor will coordinate with peer Switchboard Project Oversight Supervisor, Substation Construction Physical Supervisors, Substation Construction Equipment Installer Supervisor, Project Management, Substation Control & Physical Design, Transmission Maintenance Centers, Transmission Support, Supply Chain Management, and other internal and external partners to ensure projects are completed on schedule and in a quality manner.
The supervisor is responsible to lead the team in a Safety Excellence environment with a focus on learning and ensuring critical and operational risk plans are implemented. The supervisor will conduct ongoing performance management and ensure robust plans for employee training and development at all levels in support of an active learning environment. Major focus areas include safety, inclusion, performance management, employee development, training, quality assurance, and efficiency improvement.
Job Responsibilities
Model safety leadership and support employee-led safety culture and human performance initiatives.
Provide leadership for the Switchboard field wiring teams and support initiatives throughout Transmission Construction.
Partner with Substation Switchboard Project Oversight Supervisor to create and implement strategy to address current and future resource needs of Switchboard.
Foster an inclusive culture where employees feel valued and create an environment of trust, development, and continuous improvement.
Deliver effective performance management and actively support leadership development and training for direct reports.
Create and implement equitable, proactive plans to support Switchboard team members in their learning, growth and development training for current and future roles.
Understand and adhere to the Transmission Construction labor agreements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners – Substation Physical Construction Supervisors, Contract Crews, Project Management, Substation Control & Physical Design, Transmission Maintenance Centers, Transmission Support, Supply Chain Management
Oversee the hiring and onboarding process for covered employees.
Ensure routine evaluation and optimization of crew makeup based on experience level and development interests.
Lead and coordinate emergency equipment failure efforts as needed.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelors degree a plus
Technical Experience:
Experience within Transmission is preferred; TMC, Sub Design, and/or Construction experience is especially beneficial
Experience leading covered employees is a plus
Subject matter expertise in control wiring is a plus
Leadership Experience:
Performance management experience required

Working knowledge of IBEW Local 84 Transmission MOA
Knowledge of the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) beneficial
Knowledge of GPC Safety and Health policies, safe work practices & procedures, and System Operating Procedures
