Construction Coordinator – Network Underground Services (NUS) – Civil Construction – Statewide

Location: 829 Jefferson St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

Successful candidate must live within commutable distance to Metro Atlanta or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is available if needed.

Note: This position requires travel up to 50% of the time.

JOB SUMMARY

The Network Underground Services (NUS) - Construction Coordinator - Civil position reports to the NUS Construction Supervisor. This position has the responsibility for providing oversight of Civil contract crews performing high quality, cost effective, and timely construction services for the network underground electrical systems located within Metro Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, Macon, Columbus, Athens, Gainesville, Valdosta and other spot Network Systems located within the state of Georgia. The successful candidate must personally embrace Safety Excellence, plus monitor that all contractors abide by their employer’s safe work procedures. This position is accountable for constructing, coordinating, and maintaining schedules of NUS contractors on projects serving High Profile Customers located within our service territory. This position assists with providing resources and coordination of activities during trouble responses associated with Network Underground Equipment failures. Also, this position coordinates construction resources associated with non-Network requests, such as “Hi-Reliable” concrete encased duct bank systems, the MARTA Electrical System, unique Generating Plant service requests, as well as Customer Owned Manhole and Conduit Systems. The successful candidate must live within commuting distance of Metro Atlanta or be willing to relocate.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Coordinating contract resources to ensure Network Underground Services (NUS) meets compliance, budget, productivity, schedule, customer satisfaction and quality goals.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling/planning, pre-construction meetings, quality control, inventory, and close-out of assigned projects.

  • To be effective in this position, the successful candidate must engage and communicate effectively with other departments, internal and external customers, builders, developers, electricians, etc.

  • The successful candidate will also work closely with our Distribution Area partners and the NUS Construction Team.

  • This job will require an alternate work schedule to accomplish the above-mentioned responsibilities with travel up to 50% of the time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School education or equivalent is required

Experience Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Network Underground Civil construction and maintenance specifications, practices, and bulletins is required.

  • 6 or more years of Network Underground experience is required

  • 2 years Journeyman Ductline Mechanic or equivalent experience in ductline construction/maintenance is preferred

  • Ability to analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, permits, and other project documentation.

  • Experience in Network Underground cable systems & vault construction, splicing PILC and XLP, protectors, 4kV switchgear, maintenance specifications, practices, and bulletins is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to interact effectively face-to-face with Customers (includes Developers, Builders, Regions, City/County Agents, etc.)

  • Ability to motivate and influence others to get work completed safely & efficiently

  • Regularly review contractor performance and provide constructive feedback

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks over the state of Georgia

  • Ability to schedule and prioritize work

  • Ability to set clear expectations and deliver results within a deadline

  • PC skills and knowledge in Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. are desired.

  • Familiarization in the CATEE/CAMP processing is a plus

Other:

  • Work schedule – Flexible hours are required due to road restrictions and project development scheduling. Schedules include, but not limited to – 4/10’s or 5/8’s, typically between the days of Monday through Friday. Occasionally, working hours can include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on customers’ needs.

  • Available for Storm Duty

  • The incumbent will be required to be in an on-call rotation to respond to statewide trouble situations.

  • Successful candidate must live within reasonable distance of permanent work location.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time

  • Relocation assistance is available

  • This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

•Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).

•Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.

•Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
