This position performs technical and analytical services essential to the control systems and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic) for the operation of Plant Wansley CC which consists of two (2) Combined Cycle (CC) units. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the plant controls and electrical systems and completing repairs as necessary. These systems include Digital Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Controls Systems (DCS), control circuits, power circuits, and control devices on plant equipment within the plant. The successful candidate will maintain instrumentation including but not limited to, pressure, temperature, level and flow devices that provide input to the various control systems. The successful candidate must understand and utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment in the performance of duties. The candidate will be responsible for managing the inventory of parts and supplies for the plant control systems. The successful candidate will participate in the plant maintenance program as a system owner and document plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order system, MAXIMO®.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Job Experience and Education

  • An approved two-year technical degree from a certified technical institution or military or similar/relative work experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience in electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and controls in power plant maintenance preferred

  • Experience with GE Mark VIe Controls, Ovation Controls, PLCs, Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEMS) equipment, other digital control systems and Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) desired.

  • Experience in Combustion Turbine (CT) and/or Combined Cycle (CC) plant operation is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to troubleshoot complex systems.

  • Detailed knowledge of plant controls and data acquisition systems desired.

  • Must have good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trends for optimizing plant performance.

  • Must have superior interpersonal skills, proven written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

Other requirements

  • Successful completion of the Technical Aptitude Test for Instrument & Controls Technicians.

  • Must be available for night, overtime, weekend and holiday work as required. This may include storm duty, including hurricane, winter, or other various storm related issues, as needed.
