Job Summary
We are seeking Electrical or Controls Engineers to support both systems reliability and engineering design activities. Experience in power generation is desired, but not required.
The Electrical and Controls Engineer works to ensure the long-term reliability and performance of plant system(s). This requires the ability to learn systems to the component level, understand underlying issues that may reduce reliability, and effectively develop, present, and drive implementation of improvement plans and maintenance strategies.
In addition, this role may include design responsibilities, such as developing and modifying electrical and control system designs, supporting plant upgrades, and ensuring designs meet regulatory, safety, and operational requirements.
Electrical and Controls Engineers also perform causal analyses in response to equipment or system failures and develop both corrective actions and improvements to prevent recurrence. Engineers have opportunities to manage special projects, including plant modifications and upgrades, and to take key refueling outage assignments.
Job Requirements Education
B.S. or higher degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or a PE license is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in digital and/or analog controls (e.g., integrated plant computer systems, circuit boards, transmitters, analog controllers, digital controllers) is preferred
2 or more years of engineering experience is preferred but not required (nuclear or energy-related experience is helpful)
Background in Electrical or Controls Engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards
Experience or familiarity with engineering design processes, including preparation of calculations, specifications, and design change packages
Ability to support or lead design modifications, including equipment upgrades, system improvements, and plant changes
Ability to interpret and develop engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound engineering decisions based on experience and industry practices
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate issues, design concepts, and proposed solutions
Position requires periodic on-call duty (about 5 weeks per year)
Infrequent overnight travel may be required
Key Responsibilities Systems & Reliability Engineering
Ensure long-term system health through monitoring, analysis, and maintenance strategies
Perform root cause and causal analysis for failures
Develop and implement corrective actions
Support system performance trending
Lead or support system ownership
Design Engineering
Develop and implement design changes and plant modifications
Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and documentation
Support design reviews and configuration control
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Collaborate across teams for implementation
Support troubleshooting and system improvements
Participate in equipment upgrades and modernization
