This position will be located at GPC Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Hybrid work schedule (both in-office and telecommute); currently four (4) days in-office and one
(1) day telecommute.
Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance.
This position will require some travel (day and overnight, up to 25%) and the ability to work successfully in a remote/virtual environment with access to internet service.
Job Summary
The Distributed Generation (“DG”) Project Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end execution of customer-sited distributed energy projects, including solar and storage interconnections. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers, developers, and installers, ensuring projects progress efficiently through all phases of project consideration.
This role is responsible for the collaborative development, implementation and management of CustomerSited DG programs and managing Interconnection Agreements (IAs) and/or Power Purchase Agreements
(PPAs). This position works with large and diverse teams across various departments within Southern Company and externally to successfully implement DG projects from initial customer or installer/developer contact through interconnection and billing to achieve permission to operation or commercial operation.
Current Customer-Sited Programs
Distributed Commercial & Industrial (“DCI”) – Behind the meter solar and/or solar + storage for commercial and industrial customers
Customer Connected Solar Program (CCSP) – Allows GPC customers to partner with a solar developer to build an onsite/adjacent site solar facility
Solar + Storage Pilot for C&I – Enables customers to install behind-the-meter solar and battery systems and receive compensation for providing energy and grid services in coordination with Georgia Power
Job Responsibilities
Act as the project manager and primary technical point of contact for Customer-Sited DG programs ensuring that both internal and external stakeholders meet the necessary requirements to fulfill contractual and interconnection obligations to customers, developers, and installers
Provide guidance on application requirements, program eligibility, and next steps to ensure projects progress without delays
Draft, interpret, and execute Interconnection Agreements (IAs) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
Foster and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external parties
Maintain proactive communication with all stakeholders (internal and external) on project status, milestones, and issues impacting schedule or scope.
Take ownership and responsibility for quality control of all PPA and IA contracts
Identify and implement process improvements and program enhancements utilizing customer and developer feedback
Support after-hours storm restoration efforts as needed
Job Qualifications
Education & Experience:
4-year accredited BS/BA Degree OR direct experience with project management and customer interaction
Demonstrated experience in project management, working directly with customers, renewable development and/or regulatory programs preferred
Experience in the areas of Renewable Development, Power Delivery, regulatory programs, working directly with customers preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven or demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills
Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and prioritize work effectively with minimal supervision
Proven project management experience with the ability to lead complex projects from initiation through completion by effectively managing scope, schedule, stakeholder communication and risk delivering high-quality results
Ability to learn interconnection policies, program guidelines, and IA/PPA documentation for proper execution and administration of program requirements
Experience managing multiple projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and effectively interacting with external and internal stakeholders
Effective at building and leveraging internal and cross-functional relationships to achieve goals
