Position Summary

Newnan Utilities is seeking a full-time Bilingual (English/Spanish) Customer Service Representative to join our Team! The Customer Service Representative is responsible for maintaining a clean and professional Customer Service office, assisting customers with starting new utility services, transferring services, disconnecting services, processing bill payments, and assisting customers with billing inquiries.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service with customers via telephone, email, or in-person to provide support and information on products and services
  • Process customer payment transactions and ensure customer account information is correct and updated
  • Assist customers with billing questions and inquiries
  • Process new customer accounts to establish services and check credit scores to determine if deposits are required
  • Process requests to transfer or disconnect utility services
  • Clearly communicate with the Customer Service Team and employees in various departments
  • Ensure the cash drawer is balanced at the end of each shift
  • Field customer questions and complaints to the Customer Service Supervisor, and if unavailable, the Customer Service Manager, when escalation or assistance is needed
  • Arrange payment plans for customers
  • Maintain accurate customer accounts and records of customer interactions with details of inquiries, complaints, or comments
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience

  • 2-4 years of customer service experience

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Hardware | Software | Technical | Other Skills

  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse groups, including vendors, customers, and fellow employees in English and Spanish
  • Accurate and systemic in cash handling
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
