Associate Informatics Specialist

Description:

JOB PURPOSE:
Provides expertise and support in the development and optimization of technology and applications that support patient pre-service functions (scheduling, pre-registration, estimation, financial clearance), including bolt-on applications or tools. Works to improve patient pre-service processes through efficiency, automation and to maximize the current pre-service toolkit. Recommends technical or application enhancements and optimizations that will positively impact pre-service workflows and processes. Monitors existing technical tools and implements new functionality or controls to enhance efficiency. Understands the patient pre-service touchpoints and interfaces closely with project leaders, operational leaders and IT/IS. Conducts testing and fosters adoption of features and functionality that impact patient pre-service.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in Information Systems Applications, Health Information Systems, Informatics,
Management Information Systems or closely related field required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One (1) year of progressively responsible professional work experience or relevant internship experience.


MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree preferred.
Two (2) years of relevant experience in Patient Access, Physician Practice Operations, Contact Center or a similar healthcare setting involving reporting / analytics is preferred. Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical skills as well as strong skills related to the creation and modification of financial spreadsheets and other presentation-related software applications are required. Strong skills utilizing deductive thinking and analysis of consequences required. Additional software experience includes Crystal, Epic and Tableau reporting is preferred. Epic reporting workbench, slicer dicer and clarity report writing preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyzes and assesses technology impacts to patient pre-service workflows and processes.
2. Designs and implements technology-enhanced future-state workflows by interacting with department leaders and teams to analyze needs and translate into functional requirements and design.
3. Assesses the business use and functions of pre-service applications identifying opportunities for optimization as necessary.
4. Supports and assists revenue cycle leaders in assigned area(s) in identifying and troubleshooting application related problems and provides recommendations for resolution.
5. Ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives and facilitate coordination between many stakeholders
6. Conducts completion of quarterly Epic Upgrade reviews with operations and IT.
7. Consults with IT staff to determine business and functional requirements and identify solutions to resolve those needs.
8. Gathers business requirements and works with operational areas to create test plans and test data sets to ensure all components of the system meet specifications.
9. Assists Information Systems support groups in resolving complex issues.
10. Documents and communicates project status with team members, with department representatives; provides formal status reporting on a periodic basis to leadership as requested.
