10 Week Nurse Externship program starting on June 2nd, 2025.

Interviews to be selected for the program will be done at Piedmont Athens on March 19th, 2025

Areas included: Neuroscience, Medical Specialties- Med Surg, Gen Surg-Trauma, Pulmonary & Nurse Residency Unit, Oncology

All participants will be required to work 3 twelve hour shifts weekly for a minimum of 36 hours. You will be allowed to take 1 full week off during the 10 week program except for the first week. The first week will be your orientation week. There will be opportunities for dayshift 7am-7pm & nightshift 7pm-7am determined by availability for the department you are chosen to work in.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Nurse Extern, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides direct patient care to patients from
birth through the lifecycle. This care includes utilizing treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to
the pre-licensure nurse in the clinical setting per hospital policy.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Currently enrolled in and progressing through an accredited nursing program and successfully completed the
first Med/Surg rotation.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
None

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certification required
Certification from a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program preferred
Certification in phlebotomy preferred
Certification in ECG preferred
