Description:

Piedmont Heart Institute Marcus Heart Valve Center is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the Transcatheter Valve team in Atlanta, GA. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient care responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    1. Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
    2. Orders and reviews diagnostic and therapeutic tests to assist in diagnosing type and severity of valvular heart disease.
    3. Prescribes necessary medical therapy and formulates plan for intervention to discuss with the multidisciplinary Heart Team.
    4. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patients family, and staff.
    5. Monitors progress of inpatients on daily rounds, performs consultations, admissions and discharges as needed.
    6. Participates in consultative, pre-procedure, post-procedure and follow-up office visits.
    7. Participates in weekly independent APP follow-up clinics.
    8. Orders and evaluates pre-procedure testing, performs History and Physical, obtains informed consent and educates patients prior to procedure.
    9. Becomes well-versed in actively enrolling clinical research trials. May participate in Research by serving as a Sub-Investigator in clinical trials and registries.
    10. Provides clinical expertise and serves as a resource for office clinical and support staff.
    11. Participates in the weekly Multidisciplinary Valve Team Meetings to review patients and formulate clinical treatment plan.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board

or

NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing
