Responsibilities:
Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in the management of hospital laboratory services. Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.

- Establishes, monitors and manages annual and long-term strategic and operational departmental goals.
- Develops, monitors and manages annual departmental budget and capital needs.
- Oversees, manages and develops human resources for the department.
- Ensures the highest standards of patient safety, quality, outcomes and service.
- Oversees operations, and identifies continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with applicable laboratory regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Qualifications:
Education- Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, or other acceptable science from a recognized college or university. Required or
- In Lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associates in Medical Technology and 7 years of Medical Technologist experience Required
- Masters degree in Business Administration or Health Administration Preferred
- 5 years clinical experience and progressive leadership experience Required
- Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts). AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
