Overview

This is a PRN position with early morning start times of 3:00 AM, 4:00 AM, or 5:00 AM depending on your preference. Workload is determined daily at 5:00 PM for the following morning, and candidates will be contacted at that time to confirm availability. This role operates Monday through Friday only, with no weekends or holidays. The average schedule is 1–3 days per week, with Fridays most frequently needed. Shifts typically range from 6 to 8 hours, depending on workload demands.

Responsibilities

The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
Qualifications

Education
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
Work Experience
  • No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
  • In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
  • 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.   • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
