Essential Functions

    1. Transfer warps or loom beams to or from machine, using warp pan truck.
    2. Position section beams onto creel using hoist. To expediate the process, use the aid of a trained coworker when available.
    3. Conduct visual inspection of the process.
    4. Assist slasher operator to pass warp threads through rollers, size pot, and drying roller and to insert lease rods.
    5. Loosen and remove clamps from end of loom beam, using wrench.
    6. Lift loom beams from slasher onto warp pan truck, using hoist.
    7. Weigh, mix, and cook size in vats according to formula.
    8. Turn valves to control flow of size from vat to size box on slasher machine.
    9. Complete hoist checklist to ensure proper function and safety requirements are met.
    10. Perform housekeeping duties in assigned areas.
    11. Troubleshoot cause of problem and work jointly with the operator to get the slasher back in operation. Notify supervisor or maintenance when equipment malfunctions.
    12. Move direct beams from in front of the roll up door and stage styles together prior to end of shift.
    13. Work together with the operator to strike the set.
    14. Slasher Size Prep may fill in for Slasher Operator.
    15. Perform other duties assigned by management.
    16. Follow all safety rules to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The candidate is frequently exposed to noise, dust and various chemicals, and moving parts requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toe shoes.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the candidate is regularly required to talk, walk, stand (for extended periods of time), and hear. The candidate must have good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. The candidate will be required to reach out and overhead with hands and arms, and perform repetitive hand actions – grasping, push/pull, and fine manipulations. The candidate will be required to bend, stoop, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull with entire body weights up to 600 lbs. using beam hoists. The candidate must be able to climb up and down steps as necessary. The candidate must be able to climb up and down ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this position include color vision, close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be determined by shift. Weekend and overtime may be required as job duties demand.

    Travel
    This position requires little to no travel.

    Required Education and Experience

    1. High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Certificate preferred.
    2. Must be able to operate a forklift and warp pan truck. Certification to operate these PIT will be required.
