Essential Functions

- Checks the Porini computer system to verify the next loom that will need to be tied in. The Operator should follow the schedule unless otherwise notified by management.
- Leases out old warp, gets ends up, and puts in lease rods in warp, then takes out the beam. Once beam has been removed, the operator will notify the loom technician to grease the loom.
- Replaces old tie in thread with new warp. Divides, combs out, and straightens ends of warp from full beam and clamps ends in position on the tying-in machine, then starts the tying in process.
- Observes and controls tying-in process as machine picks up corresponding strands from warp beam and from loom beam, ties strands together, and cuts off excess yarn above knots.
- Stops machine, corrects misalignment of warp yarn, and releases joined strands from machine.
- Manually ties ends not tied by machine.
- Pulls warp through drop wires, harnesses, and reed so knots will not jam assembly and break when loom is started.
- Checks head ends for defects, takes head ends to Supervisor to check for defects as well.
- Confirms new warp on Porini system.
- Repairs tying-in machine.
- Doffs exhausted warp beams and positions full beams prior to warp tying-in process.
- Performs other duties assigned by management.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The candidate is frequently exposed to noise, dust, various chemicals, and moving parts requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toe shoes.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the candidate is regularly required to talk, walk, stand (for extended periods of time), and hear. The candidate must be able to read and understand Porini as well as input data for new warp confirmation. The candidate must have good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. The candidate must be able to weave. The candidate will be required to reach out and overhead with hands and arms, and perform repetitive hand actions – grasping, push/pull, and fine manipulations. The candidate will be required to bend, stoop, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull with entire body weights from 75 to 125 lbs. frequently. The candidate must be able to climb up and down steps as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this position include color vision, close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be determined by shift. Weekend and overtime may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires little to no travel.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Certificate preferred.
Must be able to operate a forklift and warp pan truck. Certification to operate these PIT will be required.
