Job Summary

The Financial Aid Coordinator is responsible for providing secondary leadership to assist Financial Aid staff and manages a variety of daily procedures associated with Financial Aid operations.

Essential Functions

· Manages a variety of daily procedures associated with financial aid operations and provides initial point of contact for financial aid processing staff (25%)
· Researches and interprets federal and state eligibility, student loan, and verification regulations (15%)
· Processes applications and corrections, tracks documents, completes the verification process, generates student notifications (15%)
· Supervises and maintains up-to-date policies and procedures for selected functional areas within the financial aid department (15%)
· Counsel and advises students and parents regarding financial aid programs. (15%)
· Assists with the development of policies and procedures to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the financial aid programs (10%)
· Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Competencies

· Knowledge of student financial aid processes and procedures;

· Knowledge of federal, state and institutional sources of financial aid;

· Knowledge of college, state, and federal student financial aid programs, regulations, and guidelines;

· Knowledge of institutional organization, policies, procedures, and administrative practices;

· Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs;

· Decision making and problem-solving skills;

· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public;

· Oral and written communication skills;

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, mainly located on the Coweta Campus. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 6 pm and Friday, 8 am until 12 pm. This position occasionally requires longer hours and some weekend work.

Travel

Travel to other campus locations is required, as needed. Some overnight travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* (3) years of related work experience

Preferred Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree;

· Three years’ experience in an area relevant to administration of educational financial accounting, financial aid, grants, student loans,etc.;

· Working familiarity with applicable federal, state, and TCSG regulations and procedures;

· Experience using Banner System in Financial Aid;

· Experience in student information and reporting software;

· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment;

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment;

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
