JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Election Specialist II provides technical support, training, and guidance to county election officials and stakeholders. This role requires working knowledge of election systems, laws, and procedures, and the ability to independently manage assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for election systems and equipment.
  • Develop and update training materials, manuals, and presentations.
  • Deliver training sessions (in-person and virtual) to county officials and staff.
  • Respond to inquiries from voters, candidates, and election officials; escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of election laws, including O.C.G.A. Title 21 and SEB rules.
  • Communicate regularly with county registrars and election superintendents.
  • Assist candidates through qualification processes.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on election-related issues.
  • Support election operations, including extended hours during election cycles.
  • Identify issues and escalate to leadership when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and presentation tools.
  • Strong understanding of election systems and procedures.
  • Ability to deliver effective training and presentations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) – Four (4) years of experience in elections, training, or technical support role. Working knowledge of elections or government processes. Must be qualified to be a notary public.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience preferred.

Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience related to area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Busi Support Analyst 1 (GSP130). Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
