POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position assists with the administration of the Fuel & Measures Division, which is responsible for ensuring equity in the marketplace by verifying the accuracy of commercial weighing and measuring devices and protecting Georgia producers by ensuring that dealers in agricultural products, as well as warehouses that store commodities, are licensed and have adequate security bond coverage.

This position will manage direct subordinate staff and assist in the development of policies and procedures.

Job Summary:

This position assists with the development of policies and procedures and completes administrative duties, which include but are not limited to:

· Review, interpret, and evaluate state and federal laws and regulations that may affect fuel, weights, and warehouse & bonding programs

· Engage with businesses and the public to promote fair trade practices.

· Assist in the development and implementation of new methods, policies, and procedures to further program goals

· Advise supervisors, inspectors, and stakeholders on technical and regulatory issues

· Take appropriate enforcement actions against facilities or individuals who violate agricultural regulations

· Assist in maintaining accurate records and preparing reports

· Willingness to travel and actively engage and participate in meetings/workshops with association groups, industry groups, academia, and other initiatives

· Remain current on industry practices and regulatory changes

· Coordinate and facilitate solutions for challenges faced by inspectors and other staff

· Work independently to manage tasks and resolve complex issues

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of management experience in the area of assignment OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of management experience in the area of assignment OR Six years of experience in the area of assignment, Three years of which in a management role OR One year of experience required at the lower level Mgr., Regulatory Compliance (RCM050) or position equivalent.

Physical Demands:

· Long travel days

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Three years of professional experience in the weights & measures or warehouse & bonding field.
  • Working knowledge of the Windows computer operating system and applications.
  • Working knowledge of two or more of the following practices: fuel, scales, and propane inspections or examination and auditing of warehouse commodities.
  • Familiar with petroleum and weights & measures laws, rules, regulations, procedures and experience issuing enforcement related to those laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
