Georgia EPD’s Watershed Protection Branch seeks a candidate who possesses excellent communication and organizational skills, experience in project management, and knowledge of watershed principles. This position will address nonpoint source pollution and water quality impairments by providing technical and administrative assistance to public entities and other partners awarded funding for water quality improvement projects. Principal responsibilities of the position include: - Provide technical assistance to active projects and partners on the Section 319(h) Nonpoint Source Implementation Grant. - Review and approve project outputs from subgrantees on nonpoint source best management practices, watershed management plans, water quality monitoring plans, and other nonpoint source topics. - Provide oversight on project budgeting, invoicing, data management, and required reporting elements for active projects. - Participate in reviews of project applications; ensure projects recommended for funding meet Federal and State program goals. - Plan and facilitate public meetings and workshops related to grant opportunities. - Review negotiated scopes of work, budgets, and special conditions to ensure grant awards are consistent statewide and meet all applicable guidelines. - Attend site visits to monitor project progress. - Participate in and support statewide Nonpoint Source Program initiatives and activities.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Knowledge of nonpoint source pollution best management practices
- Knowledge of water quality sample collection and data analysis
- Experience in grant financial management and tracking
- Experience with stakeholder engagement, public speaking, and team leadership
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and databases
